Ludacris at Great Park Live

On November 22, 2024, Ludacris and Ying Yang Twins performed at the first-ever sold out show at Great Park Live, the brand new concert venue we helped design and build in Irvine, California. Ludacris played to a crowd of 4,800, supported by PCE lighting, audio, video, staging, rigging, power, backline, and more.

To engage the crowd, the concert took advantage of the biggest lighting package deployed at Great Park Live to date. The PCE team deployed Elation Platinum Beam 5R Extreme, Martin MAC Aura PXL, and Elation Proteus Maximus Profile fixtures in addition to the Vari-Lite VL3600 Profile IP, Chauvet Maverick Storm 3 BeamWash, and Chauvet Color STRIKE M lights that ordinarily live at the venue. PCE lighting designer Steven Hicks designed the show, orchestrating the action from behind a grandMA3 light console. Ultratec Radiance hazers created atmosphere to make the lights pop.

The show sounded phenomenal thanks to some state-of-the-art PCE audio production. We once again relied on the EAW Anya line array speakers and EAW Otto subwoofers built into the venue as the main PA, augmented by EAW micro wedges and NTX210L speakers. At front of house, we mixed the show with a Yamaha CL5 audio console. For the Shure PSM 1000 IEMs used by Ludacris and Ying Ying Twins, we set up a DiGiCo Quantum 338 mixer. Both artists used Shure Axient wireless microphones.

Ludacris harnessed the full video power of Great Park Live, bringing the massive Infiled ART 7.8 LED video walls to life with Blackmagic URSA Broadcast G2 and Panasonic PTZ AW-UE70KP Cameras. A video team mixed footage from these cameras with the artists' prerecorded video content via a Blackmagic ATEM 1 M/E Constellation HD switcher and Blackmagic ATEM 1 M/E Advanced Panel.

PCE Backline double-dipped on the action, providing DJ gear to both Ludacris and Ying Yang Twins. Ludacris opted for our Pioneer CDJ-3000 and Pioneer DJM-S11, while Ying Yang Twins went with Technics 1200 Turntables and a Rane Sixty-Two mixer.
