Fender Rhodes Setup and Demonstration
Popularized in the 1970's, the Fender Rhodes electric piano has since become a beloved piece of vintage backline. While setting up this fine instrument is relatively straightforward, there are a few quirks to be aware of. In this video guide, PCE Backline Technician Anthony Grisham demonstrates how to set up the Rhodes.
The Fender Rhodes comes in two different cases: one for the speaker cabinet and one for the instrument itself. First, position the cabinet where you want it on the stage. Then, place the keys on top using the hole for the sustain pedal as a guide for alignment.
With one piece secure on top of the other, remove the cover from the keyboard and set it inside. Inside of the cover, you'll find a couple of cables needed to hook up and power the Rhodes. Connect these and BAM! The Fender Rhodes is ready to go.
At PCE Backline, we have quite few Rhodes models: a Fender Rhodes Stage 73, a Fender Rhodes Suitcase 73, and a Fender Rhodes Suitcase 88 (the model seen in this video). To rent one of these incredible pieces, give us a call at 714-464-2406.
