American Cancer Society Gala with The Beach Boys
Because the American Cancer Society's March 2024 Orange County Gala marked their first post-pandemic in-person fundraising event, it had to deliver. PCE rose to the occasion with a ton of production help for this multifaceted event. The gala consisted of a cocktail hour, dinner, guest speakers, charity auction, and a night-capping concert by The Beach Boys. PCE was there every step of the way with lighting, audio, video, staging, rigging, and power.
Our team rigged Martin MAC Aura PXL and Martin MAC Allure Profile fixtures above the stage (built from Steeldeck). We also positioned numerous colorful SeeBlast PARs around the room to enhance the ambience. The lighting system ran through a grandMA 3 light lighting console.
For audio, we relied on an L-Acoustics Kara line array with RCF subwoofers. Shure Axient Wireless microphones allowed the event's speakers to move freely around the stage and the room (a super important feature when it came to the charity auction). The PA system ran through a Yamaha CL5 audio console. For The Beach Boys, we used Shure PSM 1000 In-Ear Monitors controlled via a DiGiCo SD12 console.
PCE video technicians used Panasonic PTZ and Blackmagic URSA Broadcast G2 cameras along with a Blackmagic ATEM 2 M/E Production Studio 4K for image magnification. Their work was shown in the room via two Panasonic 7K laser projectors and a Christie Boxer 4K projector. These projectors blasted their image onto AV Stumpfl projector screens.
A Hollyland wireless comms system let the PCE team communicate with each other to put on the show. ProPower distros helped us manage the event's power needs. Finally, we lined the room with 160' of pipe and Encore drape.
The end result? A fantastic event for a good cause, headlined by a legendary rock band!
